A Dive, Race, Fetch Woof & Roll FunRaiser!

Golden Fest is a Fun Celebration of Goldens… and Giving Back, to support cancer research in Goldens through Zeke’s Cancer Fund, managed by the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA.org) and proudly hosted by Belle Shain Kennels.

Join fellow Golden Retriever enthusiasts and companions for a day of community, fun, and giving back — all in support of advancing cancer research and care for our beloved Goldens. How many Goldens do we have in Baldwin County???

 

About Belle Shain

Mischief, Manners & Fun!
Since 1958, Belle Shain Kennels has been a home for Golden Retrievers and their families. Nestled between Cowpen Creek and Fish River in Fairhope, AL, BelleShain is located on 34 acres of scenic grounds at the historic Grand Hotel Fish Camp.  As a member of Golden Retriever Club of America, the AKC National Parent Club for Goldens, Belle Shain has enjoyed parenting, breeding, training, and competing in AKC events with their Goldens.  BelleShain is the perfect setting for a Golden-filled celebration.

The Plan

Golden Fest invites Golden Retriever families to spend an afternoon filled with friendship, playful activities, and unforgettable memories. We’ll celebrate our Goldens with fun challenges, a group photo, and activities designed for all ages and abilities.

Group photo & Golden Count !

Participation: Open and informal — take part in any event you choose. These are not sanctioned events for a title and do not count toward AKC titles. They are just for FUN!

Goldenfest is a family-friendly celebration exclusively for Golden Retrievers and their households. Other pets from your home are welcome, and Golden Retriever Fans or prospective owners are encouraged to attend as spectators. Maybe you will find out where to find that next Pup!

Featured Events

FCAT (Fast Cat)
The 100-yard dash for dogs! Let your speedy pup chase a “rabbit” and see how fast they can go. Top three dogs receive a rosette!

Dock Diving
Take the plunge! Our regulation dock and natural pool (chlorine-free) are ready for your dog’s best leap. Bring your own dummies or use ours — towels required! Top three distances win a rosette.

FETCH!
A playful, new AKC game. Novice and Intermediate series allow dogs to retrieve toys or dummies over 30–50 feet. Complete all tosses for a fun challenge!

Dance & Tricks Showcase

Show off your dog’s moves! End the afternoon with a playful showcase where the audience will cheer on their favorites.

What to Bring

 

Chairs, umbrellas, weather-appropriate attire, leashes, collars, towels, and tethers.

Requirements:

  • Dogs must be registered through our online reservation system, with vaccination records uploaded.

  • Dogs must be friendly, controllable, and on leash except during specific events.

  • Tie-out stakes are available, but supervision is required.

  • Poop bags and scoopers provided, or bring your own.

  • Plenty of fresh water will be available for all dogs.

     

Golden Fest is more than an event — it’s a celebration of our Goldens, our community, and our shared love for these wonderful dogs. We can’t wait to see you and your furry family members!

DRINKS:

We will Provide Soft Drinks & Water for $2 each

Plenty of free water for our  Goldens!

FOOD:

Provided by Tin-Tins Rock and Roll Food Truck at listed price. If you are not familiar, they are very popular and can be found on Facebook at Tin-Tins Rock & Roll Food Truck you can check out their menu online.

 

 

DOCK DIVING:

We have a regulation dock and natural swimming pool, no chlorine. We have throw dummies or you can bring your own. Bring your own towel!  Top 3 Dogs will receive a rosette for their placement. Furthest jump wins!

FAST CAT:

For the prey motivated, a hundred yard dash for our athletes. Dogs chase a plastic bag, "RABBIT", for 100 yards. Fastest Time Wins!  Top 3 Dogs will receive a rosette for their placement. 

FETCH:  

Just for fun! We will have a Novice series, if time allows we will have an Intermediate series. Toys or dummies will be thrown 30-50 feet in line of sight between boxes or in our case hay bales. Complete all 3 tosses and retrieves or if Intermediate 4 retrieves.

ENTERTAINMENT:

Ever find yourself Dancing with your Golden or learning a trick? We will end the afternoon with an opportunity for you to show us! We expect much fun will be had by all !  Your audience will decide who is most popular.

WHAT SHOULD I PLAN TO BRING:

Chairs, Umbrellas, Dressed for weather, leashes, collars, Towels, tethers

What is Required:

 For everyones safety all dogs will need to be registered with our online reservation system where you can also pay for your adult entry for each adult. Vaccination records will need to be current and uploaded. Dogs will need to be friendly with other dogs, controllable and on leash except for the event entered. You may use tie out stakes and we will have some free ones available as long as you monitor your dog. We will have poop scoopers and bags but you can certainly bring your own. We will have plenty of water for the dogs.
