Why it matters
Do you worry about your dog encountering a venomous snake?
Dogs are curious. When they find a snake in the yard, on a trail, or behind a flower pot, their instinct is to sniff it. Our Snake Aversion Clinic teaches your dog that snakes are something to avoid, not stop and investigate.
The goal is for your dog to recognize the sight, scent, and presence of a snake and immediately choose to retreat. A snake bite can mean emergency vet care costing thousands of dollars, and not every clinic keeps antivenin on hand. Teaching your dog to avoid snakes in the first place is the best protection you can give them.
We've heard from many owners whose dogs went through this training and later met a real snake. They knew to stay away.
Who runs it
Safe, professional training
The clinic is led by certified snake professional Jason Clark of Southeastern Reptile Rescue. Jason is well known in both the dog and snake communities and has worked with national, state, and local law enforcement, including Homeland Security.

How to register
Registration takes about 3 minutes online or in the Belle Shain app. Time slots fill quickly!
- Tap Reserve my dog's time slot and choose how many dogs are coming.
- In "Select Services," type Snake and choose Snake Aversion Clinic (October 3rd).
- Pick Saturday, October 3 on the calendar. Please double-check the date.
- Your drop-off time is your clinic slot (9:00 AM โ 3:00 PM). For pick-up, choose the next half hour.
- Skip the add-ons: tap Next, then "Not now."
- Sign in, or tap "Sign Up" if you're new. New customers can create an account right there.
- Upload a photo of your dog's current vaccination record. In the app, just snap a picture.
Paid members of Lower Alabama HRC, Gulf Coast Boykin Spaniel Club, Bay Area HRC, Florida Panhandle Pointing Breed Club, and other qualifying clubs get a $10 coupon once we confirm membership with your club.
